Carrollton, GA—Carroll Electric Membership Cooperative is anticipating a busy next few months with June marking the beginning of hurricane season. The cooperative has a long history of dealing with storm related outages and amid the coronavirus pandemic, additional measures have been put into place to keep both employees and Members safe.
Carroll EMC is committed to supplying its Members with dependable service in all kinds of weather. A hurricane is not a pleasant experience but being prepared can make it an easier one. Carroll EMC encourages its Members to follow these safety tips.
- Build an emergency kit with the necessary supplies to last you and your family at least two weeks. With the threat of the coronavirus, consider using home delivery or curbside pick-up for items such as water, non-perishable food, first aid supplies and medicine. Have face masks, gloves and hand sanitizer for each family member on hand.
- Listen to weather forecasts and predictions and have an evacuation plan for you and your family in case of an extended power outage.
- Store Carroll EMC’s number in your cell phone and download the Carroll EMC Outage Pal app in advance. Call 770-832-3552 (option 1) to report any outages or report them via Carroll EMC’s Outage Pal app or on the website, www.carrollemc.com.
For Carroll EMC, additional preparation includes having all employees on call for the duration of major weather-related events. This includes facilitating customer service, outage or communication issues facing the cooperative, its membership or the communities it serves. In the event of an outage, please stay away from working crews to maintain social distancing practices. The cooperative continues to follow enhanced guidelines to ensure the health and well-being of its employees and Members.
The cooperative encourages all stakeholders to download its mobile app and Outage Pal from the Apple App Store and Google Play. If an extended outage occurs, Carroll EMC restores power to the greatest number of Members first in order to minimize the outage time for the greatest number of people.
